About the CVA                                     

The Center for the Visual Arts is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit visual arts organization working to promote and sustain the creation and the appreciation of the visual arts in the greater Wausau area. We are doing this through free exhibits in three professional gallery spaces, offering art classes for children and adults through the CVA School of Art, selling original artist work in our gift shop, and collaborating with other local organizations and businesses to enrich your community.  The CVA participates in the community through ChalkFest, Exhibitour, and offering free kids activities at many different events.

We also dedicate the Loft Gallery to exhibits for local groups such as the Women's Community, Wisconsin Valley Art Association, and Wisconsin Visual Artists Guild. Aside from these great happenings, the CVA also offers unique events to the community such as The Art of Wine and our Annual Art Auction: Just for the Art of It.

Gift Shop

The CVA Gift Shop boasts many local, regional, and national artists. All work is individually hand made to be the perfect and high quality gift for your family, friends, or you! New artists are constantly joining the gift shop creating a great variety of original art. There's something for everyone!

Your purchase in the gift shop supports both the artist and the CVA. Stop in our shop and you will be sure to find something spectacular!

CVA School of Art

The CVA School of Art is dedicated to providing affordable quality arts education to the community for all levels of experience.  New class programs and special workshops are available for both kids and adults. If you or your children enjoy creating art, the CVA School of Art is your center for arts learning. A variety of classes are offered including ceramics, oils, acrylic, pastel, drawing, photography, jewelry, quilting, basket weaving, artisan crafts, and so much more. CVA General Operations

The CVA currently has two full time staff, one part time bookkeeper, and one weekend gift shop staff. We rely heavily upon volunteers to teach classes, assist in the Gift Shop, sit on our Board of Directors, serve on committees, as well as greet visitors in the Gallery. Our programs are mission based and offer this community rewarding art experiences and opportunities. It is the continuous objective of the CVA to propel and promote the CVA to the community and broaden our existing programs. As always, the CVA will remain dedicated to its mission to promote the arts to the community, while offering opportunities for artists to teach, sell their work and exhibit their art. We are a strong contributor to the vitality of the community and an important member of the downtown area. As we look forward to the future, we ask for continued support and encouragement from our supporters and friends.
