Midwest Seasons

Spring, summer, fall, winter. The start of a new year is always kicked off with our annual invitational exhibit, Midwest Seasons.  This exhibit calls for entries from artists all over the country.  The art and awards are chosen by a professional judge.  See more than 50 artists and their renditions of the Midwest.

People, Places, Plants, Paint.

LocFaces and facades.   Locations and Locals.  People to see and places to be. Paint is the vehicle for these artists; people, plants, and places are the destination.  Leonard Nagler (Appleton), Nelson Reinhardt (Cincinnati), and Ann Singsaas (Stevens Point) show us how paint translates into a person, place, or plant in three distinctly different styles.

Refigured

We We have Refigured our infamous In the Flesh exhibits. Organic form and movement are expressed in drawings and sculpture.  Human forms come alive in the sculptural work of Nila Petty.  Karla Mirick’s drawings utilize emotion and energy to evoke emotional reactions. This is a “body” of work you won’t want to miss!

Beneath, Below & Beyond

Julie Ganser and Andrea Miller-Fazendin both find nature at the forefront of their work, but what lies beneath goes far deeper than we know. Explore the layered artwork of these two Midwest artists. Find their viewpoint below the surface and beyond the limits of a canvas or frame.

Art FROM the Park

Inspired by the success of 2009’s exhibit, If a Tree Falls in the City: The Butternut Project, area woodworkers take on new woods from Wausau’s wooded treasure, Marathon Park. This exhibit will include turned, carved, and hand-built artworks created from felled trees that grew in Marathon Park. Art for sale will raise funds for CVA and Marathon County Parks Foundation. See a familiar park in a whole new light.

Where We Live

Three Wausau artists turn our gallery into a living space, complete with furniture and finishing touches. Feel at home…at an artist’s home…in this comfy and creative setting.  Valerie Berkely, Nancy Laliberte, and Chris Mosse will each depict how they live in a world of art. You may want to move in!

Vessels

Vessels: a hollow or concave utensil, as a cup, bowl, pitcher or vase used for holding liquids or other contents.  Seems pretty simple, but these extraordinary pieces will surprise you!  With materials such as clay, wood, fiber and glass; see what this exhibit holds in store for you.
