Historic Building Renovation

The renovation of the historic building began in the fall of 2015 by the Grand Theater Foundation.
This resulted in the building being brought back to its original form, highlighting many historical and artistic aspects.

The Ceramics Studio

The renovation revealed many hidden gems within the ceramic studio. The exposed brick walls and steel HV/AC units and pillars give the studio an urban feel. The new open floor concept has allowed for the pottery wheels to be arranged along the exterior of the studio. One of the most popular spaces at the CVA, the ceramics studio is home to adult and kid wheel-throwing and handbuilding classes, glazing worshops, private lessons, and more!

The CVA received support for ceramic studio equipment from community members and from the Marvin & Ruth (Rudie) Schuette Fund of the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin. The Ceramics Studio has been enhanced with moveable work tables, Walker Display System, pottery wheels, floor drain, storage units & shelves, data, walker system, lighting, and more!

The Skylight Gallery

The Skylight Gallery (formally known as the Transitions Gallery) is the fourth exhibit space for the Center for the Visual Arts. During the historic building renovation a skylight was revealed within the Studio Room hallway along with the original wood floor.

The Vault Gallery

The Vault Gallery is a newest exhibit space at the Center for the Visual Arts. During building renovation, the original historic vault door was discovered and placed back on it’s hinges. A work of art itself, patron can view the internal mechanisms through the door’s clear window, and try to guess what its combination is.

The CVA would like to thank and recognize the B.A. & Esther Greenheck Foundation for their support of the Vault Gallery. The Vault Gallery has been enhanced with moveable exhibit walls, Walker Display System, lighting, reception desk, data, storage units & shelves, kitchen appliances, and more!

The Studio Room

The renovation has allowed for the educational Studio Room to be expanded and enhanced with additional natural light. The CVA is hosts all of its 2D classes and workshops for children and adults in this space.

The CVA would like to thank and recognize the Dudley Foundation for their support of the Education Studio Room. The Studio Room has been enhanced with tables, Walker Display System, lighting, data, ceiling projector, storage units & shelves, table top easels, cameras, and more!
