Expressions is almost here! Children, ages 6-12, are invited to choose their own track of courses from which they will experience a multitude of mediums through the creation of four-five different projects per track. As our longest running educational program, the CVA aims to promote art appreciation, the development of new skill-sets and build confidence through self-expression within our area youth.

TRACK ONE: Applied Arts

Applied arts combine creativity and function.

Students will create functional works with clay and textiles, while learning skills for everyday use.

TRACK TWO: 2D

Two-dimensional art refers to any form of visual art that exists in two dimensions. 2D art forms can include drawings, paintings, prints, and photographs. 

Students will learn helpful drawing techniques like gridding, mark making, and composition to create a variety of two-dimensional art works.

TRACK THREE: 3D

Three-dimensional art is defined as with all the dimensions of height, width and depth.

Students will experiment with clay, wire, and wood to create their very own sculptures, while learning skills for everyday use.

  • Cardboard Creatures

  • Ceramics Frog Houses

TRACK FOUR: Graphic Story Telling

Graphic storytelling is a narrative told primarily through the use of visual media.

Students will strengthen their storytelling skills by drawing and creating stories using a variety of mediums.

  • Stitch Bound Journal or Planner

  • Dreamscape Map

  • Story blocks

  • Stamped Ceramic Tiles w/ "Burn Out" Noodle Poetry

  • Black out Poetry
